The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Phoenix denounces Arizona State Representative Jay Lawrence for his comments on refugees and refugee resettlement in Arizona.
In line with his own comments, his remarks are indeed bigoted and do not reflect the demonstrated economic and social realities of refugee resettlement and its positive impact on the State of Arizona.
State Rep. Lawrence’s myopic comments do not align with the facts and figures that support the tangible benefits that refugee integration contributes to Arizona.
We call on Arizona State Representative Jay Lawrence to publicly renounce his comments on refugees, and to reaffirm the support he previously gave to HCR Resolution 2027 that affirms the contributions of refugee resettlement for the State of Arizona.
