The Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix, Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and ADL Arizona are devastated by the terrorist attack today on the Chabad synagogue in Poway, California.

Our grief at this horrific tragedy is compounded by the fact that this act of terrorism comes at the end of Passover, on Shabbat, and on the six-month anniversary of the shooting at the Pittsburgh Tree of Life synagogue.

Together, the Jewish Community of Greater Phoenix stands in support and sympathy with the families and community affected by today’s tragedy, and we stand with Chabad of Poway.

Together, we stand resolute against the scourge of hatred and antisemitism. Together we declare: Hate has no place in the Valley of the Sun, in Arizona, or anywhere in the world.

Furthermore, the Jewish community is grateful that we never face these terrible storms alone. We thank the Phoenix Police Department and other law-enforcement agencies for their immediate response by increasing patrols at synagogues and Jewish institutions. We also thank our many partners outside the Jewish community who have already reached out with their comfort and support.
